FleetCon 2024 Recap
From a beautiful sunrise to an amazing sunset, from exploring a submarine to a great pool party - FleetCon 2024 Galveston, TX was our first destination location filled with new and exciting opportunities along with proven concept and structure.

For the first time our Preconference included 4 ½ hours of (EVT) Emergency Vehicle Technician training by local trainer Joshua Derrick along with EVT Certification testing proctored by Division Chief Robert Barron.

Another first this year was the introduction of our Cvent Events App. This app allowed all participants to connect with attendees, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors-along with a map of the exhibit floor and the ability to personalize your schedule so as not to miss an event. Thanks to our amazing exhibitors the Expo floor sold out with 119 booths, 62 vendors and 171 booth staff showing products and services that benefit fleet managers and their organization.

Starting off the conference, Opening Keynote was Vince Lorefice, talking about Galveston Unbroken, A journey through resilience, recovery and future preparedness. Vince painted a picture of Galveston’s history of tragedies and triumphs the island has seen over the years along with what is being done today to help prevent such devastation again.

This year’s learning sessions were followed by Panel & Shop Talk discussions to dive deeper into the subject matter, increasing audience participation with experiences, comments and feedback. From PM programs, recruiting & retaining technicians, EV, communication to budget forecasting there was something for everyone.

Additional Keynote speakers Lisa Walden Connecting across generations: five generation at work was very insightful on how each generation sees each other along with how communication across those generation differ greatly. Dave Carr's presentation on Sustainability in Texas: Cap Metro’s project connect was a reminder that great ideals also must have realistic executions using all resources, rail, transit, micro-transit, paratransit and last mile bikes or scooters to reduce traffic congestion.
