| Position Description: | Performs skilled mechanical and technical work and preventive maintenance of light, medium-duty, and heavy trucks, earth moving equipment, construction equipment, agricultural tractors, snowplows, dump trucks, variable message boards, mowers, paint trucks, and anything else required by County personnel. Diagnosing sources of mechanical problems or failures, including repairs to electrical system components and heating and air conditioning systems, either visually or using automotive diagnostic equipment. Operate gas or arc welding equipment, a variety of hand and small power tools, a metal press and/or a metal lathe to repair and/or fabricate parts and tools necessary to maintain County vehicles. Prepare interim records of work performed and parts used on all equipment repaired. Use County computer system to prepare records of work performed and parts used on all County equipment repaired. Perform both minor and major preventative maintenance. Mount, balance, repair, and replace tires ranging from automotive to heavy equipment tires. Ensure compliance with DOT standards and state, federal, and company requirements. Communicate professionally with customers and team members. |
