What We Offer The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to: • A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service • 457B Retirement Plan • 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year • Competitive medical, dental and vision plans effective within 1 month of start date Location In this position you can expect to work on-site at Denver International Airport and our hub – the DEN Maintenance Center (27500 E. 80th Ave., Denver, CO 80249) – five days a week. What You’ll Do Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to join the Fleet Management Section. The Fleet Management Section supports the operation of DEN on a 24/7/365 basis utilizing approximately 70 full-time employees. The Fleet Managers oversee day-to-day operations to ensure that their area of responsibility is managed safely and efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. The Fleet Management Section is responsible for managing and maintaining one of the largest and most technically advanced airport snow removal fleets in North America (approx. 1,400 vehicle/equipment assets). In this critical position you will be leading supervisors and technicians in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting/diagnosis, repair, and overhaul of a wide variety of state-of-the-art diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel vehicle and equipment assets. You will oversee the shop condition, tool inventory, and proactively address Maintenance-related support efforts. You will also be responsible for managing the Section’s Safety/Environmental Program. Specifically, as the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will: • Impact and influence the overall direction of Fleet Maintenance through leadership. • Employ effective communication skills to build a cohesive team between Operations and Maintenance sections of Fleet Management. • Lead and direct subordinate supervisors and staff, set priorities, provide guidance and instruction on expected outcomes, delegate/review work, and respond to subordinates’ inquiries, providing guidance and interpretation regarding application of the organization’s policies, procedures, standards, and functional/technical matters. • Conduct fiscal analysis, and prepare and present budget recommendations for Fleet Maintenance. Provide information and input to higher-level managers/executives to develop organization’s budget. • Carry out plans of higher-level managers and executives using functional/technical knowledge. Establish objectives and strategies for functional area programs and projects. • Direct development of and approve or create work-level procedures, practices, and guidelines to support day-to-day operations. Conduct or coordinate training to support implementation and ongoing compliance with new or revised policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. • Identify unfavorable maintenance trends as they occur. Initiate corrective actions, utilize benchmarking, and revise procedures to improve effectiveness and eliminate deficiencies. Prepare data for presentation in graphic and summary form. • Manage section safety and environmental compliance programs. Ensure compliance with standards, coordinate inspections, evaluate findings and propose recommendations and solutions. Respond and evaluate reported safety concerns and recommend courses of action. • Coach, mentor, and challenge staff. Champion continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Encourage staff development opportunities that include training, development, and succession planning. Establish performance expectations and standards for all levels of employees to achieve or exceed performance metrics and prepare them for the future. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: • Eight or more years of experience as a mechanic • Four or more years of experience supervising a team of fleet maintenance technicians (including supervisors) • Experience working with a Fleet Management Database • Experience working in the public sector, or a highly regulated industry • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Required Minimum Qualifications • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree. • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of professional individual contributors. • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. • Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application; licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment Additional Information • FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required. • Snow/Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
